What Are Collections?

Overview

Collections offer an incredibly broad range of supplemental curriculum specifically curated into topics that are highly relevant to students’ lives but are not always found in traditional curriculum. With Collections, you can save time searching for targeted resources and provide students with quality learning experiences tailored to their needs and interests.

Collections include topic-based activities and lessons that are curated by subject matter experts to be developmentally appropriate and effective across five grade bands (PK-K, 1-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12). You can choose to facilitate Collections in full or select the individual lessons and activities that might have the biggest impact in your classroom. For further customization, you can create your own custom Collections and share them with your colleagues.

Viewing Collections

1. Click on Collections from the left-hand navigation bar.
2. To view all of Wayfinder's curated Collections, click on "All Collections." 
3. To view the Collections that you've created, click on "My Collections." 
4. To view Collections that other educators have shared with you, click on "Shared with Me." 
5. To view Collections by topic, click on a topic in the bar at the top of the page.
6. To filter Collections by grade-band, use the "Grade" filter at the top right of the page.

Creating Collections

1. Click on Collections from the left-hand navigation bar.

2. Click on the "New Collection" button at the top right of the page.

   

3. Enter a name for your Collection and select the grade band.
4. Click "Create Collection."
5. On the Collection page, use the "Add to Collection" button to add lessons and activities to the Collection.
   • Tip: You can also add lessons + activities to Collections from within a lesson or activity guide. When viewing a lesson/activity guide, look for the folder icon .
6. To share a Collection with other educators, click on the "Share" button. See the Co-Creating + Sharing Collections section below for details. 
7. Click on the settings cog icon to access the following: 
   • Edit Collection (only available to those with Editor access)
   • Duplicate Collection
   • Download Scope + Sequence (Excel)
   • Download Scope + Sequence (PDF) 
   • Delete Collection (only available to those with Editor access

Adding Notes to Collections

You can add notes to custom Collections to support lesson preparation, instructional planning, and implementation alignment. Notes can include delivery suggestions, dates, or other reminders. To add notes to a Collection, you must have Editor access. If you'd like to add notes to a Wayfinder-made Collection, you must duplicate it to create an editable copy.

Co-Creating + Sharing Collections

When you share a Collection with another educator, you can grant them Editor access. Editor access allows other educators to collaborate on a Collection. All editors will have the ability to edit the Collection, add and remove lessons + activities, and share the Collection.
