Educator-Observed Waypoints

Overview

Educator-Observed Waypoints are Waypoints assessments where educators respond to prompts about students based on observations. Once the assessment window is open, educators will see the assessment in the To-Do List on their Home dashboard.

How to Administer Educator-Observed Waypoints

  1. Log in to Wayfinder 
  2. Navigate to your Wayfinder Home dashboard
  3. If you are a multi-role user, make sure that you are logged in to your Teacher or Counselor role by switching your role
  4. Locate the To-Do List on your dashboard (Note: the To-Do List will only appear if you have active assessments to complete
  5. Click on the assessment you would like to complete
  6. For each student under "Pending", answer the Waypoints prompts.

  7. Click the "Submit" button when finished to move on to the next Pending student.

How to Resubmit Educator-Observed Waypoints

There are two ways to resubmit Educator-Observed Waypoints. The method you use depends on whether you have completed the assessment for all students in your class. If you still have some students with pending assessments, the assessment will show in the To-Do List on your dashboard, and you can follow these steps to resubmit:

  1. Follow the video instructions above to find your Waypoints To-Do List and click on an assessment. 
  2. Click on a student under the "Submitted" section.
  3. Then, scroll down and click on "Edit."
  4. Clicking on "Edit" will automatically move the student back to the "Pending" section and allow you to adjust your previous answers.
  5. When you are ready to resubmit the answer, click on "Submit" again

If you have already completed the assessment for all students, it will no longer show in your To-Do List. In this case, you can follow the steps below to reset a student's assessment: 

  1. Navigate to the student's profile via the Waypoints or the Classes page
    • From the Waypoints page, click on the Students tab, use the search bar to search for the student, and then click on their name
    • From the Classes page, click on the class that the student is in and then click on the student's name from within the Students list. 
  2. Once on the student's profile page, scroll down to view their Timeline
  3. Locate the row that says "Submitted" for the assessment that you would like to reset

  5. Click the Reset button at the top right of the page
    • Note: If the assessment window has passed, the "reset" button will be grayed out. To extend the window, contact your System Admin or support@withwayfinder.com. Screenshot 2025-05-05 at 10.05.32 AM.png
  6. Review the message in the pop-up window and click "Reset."

  7. Once a student's assessment has been reset, return to your Home dashboard to find the assessment in your To-Do List once more. 

 

How to Archive Educator-Observed Waypoints

  1. To archive something from your list, hover over the item and click on the "X" button

  2. To restore something to your list, click on the three ellipses and then on "Show Archived Items."
  3. Click on the three ellipses on the item you archived and then on "Restore."
