Overview
This article will provide a walkthrough of the educator view of the Portrait of a Graduate add-on. The Portrait of a Graduate add-on allows you to track the implementation of your Portrait of a Graduate, or similar framework, while utilizing engaging content to progress each of your framework’s skills.
Note: To view and use Wayfinder’s Portrait of a Graduate feature/add-on, your school or district must have purchased the feature/add-on, and your System Admin must have completed the setup.

Portrait of a Graduate Dashboard Widget
As a Teacher, Principal, or School Admin user, you can track how your students are progressing in each skill at the class or student level. Once your school or district has completed the setup for Portrait of a Graduate, you will see the Portrait of a Graduate widget on your Wayfinder Home Dashboard.
As your students engage in learning and submit artifacts you can use the dashboard widget to gain real-time insights into how students are advancing in each skill within your Portrait of a Graduate.
Use the dropdown at the top-right of the Portrait of a Graduate widget to switch between "Completed," "Viewed," and "Artifacts"
Completed will show the number of lessons + activities you have completed per skill
Viewed will show the number of lessons + Activities you have viewed per skill
- Artifacts will show the number of student artifacts uploaded per skill
Viewing Student Artifacts
View All Artifacts
Under Artifacts, use the “View All Artifacts” button to navigate to the Student Artifacts page, where you can view all artifacts uploaded by your students.
View Artifacts at the Class Level
To view Portrait of a Graduate artifacts at the class level, navigate to Classes in the left-hand navigation menu and select your class. In the Student Artifacts section on the class page, you’ll be able to view uploaded artifacts organized by student.
Use the “Mark all as Seen” button to mark all new artifacts as seen for the current student. Use the “Download” button to download .csv file of all student artifacts from the class.
View Artifacts at the Student Level
To view Portrait Graduate data for a specific student, navigate to the student's individual profile by clicking on the their name from the Student Artifacts widget.
You will see a Portrait of a Graduate section on the student's page, where you can view their artifacts, their skill proficiency, and feedback from educator evaluations.
Requesting Student Artifacts
To help your students fill in the gaps in their Portrait of a Graduate, you can follow these steps to request artifacts:
- Navigate to Classes and select a class
- Scroll down to the Student Artifacts section
- Click the Assign button
- Complete the following fields:
- Title — describe what you want the student(s) to submit
- Assign — select a classroom or individual student
- Due Date
- Core Skill (optional)— the skill this artifact should demonstrate
- Artifact Type (optional) — Life, Career + College, or Academics
- Directions — specific instructions for the student(a)
- Click Assign. The artifact assignment will appear in the students' To-Do List on their Wayfinder dashboard. To see what this looks like from the student end, see our Portrait of a Graduate: Student Artifacts guide.
You can view the artifact assignment and track submission progress in the Assignments widget at the bottom of the class page.
Evaluating Students' Core Skill Proficiency
To assess your students' Core Skill Proficiency, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Classes and select a class
- Scroll down to the Student Artifacts section
- Select a student on the left-hand side
- Click the Assess Skills button
- Review the student's artifacts for each skill.
- Note: You will only see new artifacts a student has submitted since their last evaluation, organized by skill.
- If the student does not have a sufficient artifacts, you can use the Assign Artifact button to request an artifact.
- For each skill, select a proficiency level. Hover over the proficiency levels to view your district's rubric.
- Enter feedback explaining your rating.
- Click Next Skill to assess the next Core Skill, then click the Submit button once every Core Skill has been evaluated.
To re-evaluate student, simply click on Assess Skills button from step 4 again. When you re-evaluate a student, you'll be able to:
- Select a new Skill Proficiency Level,
- View your previous feedback,
- View Feedback from other educators,
- and add new feedback
What Students See After an Evaluation\
Once you submit an evaluation, students can see their results immediately. They can view their Skill Proficiency on their Wayfinder dashboard, view the rubric, and view educator feedback. To see what this looks like from the student end, see our Portrait of a Graduate: Student Artifacts guide.
